Pocket Yoga App Reviews

Yoga till perfection.

This yoga app was the only app where a) there was a pleasant voice guiding you through (some apps have no voice at all) b) relaxing background music c) many options d) and a visual representation of what the move should look like. It does get a bit fast at the end, but what would you expect from a great workout and calm mind. I have NEVER done yoga before and I can follow on the beginner level just fine. The new updated version is even more amazing. Do yourself a favor and start doing yoga... you can thank me later!

Worth the money!

For the little money you spend on this than a teacher, it is well worth it! Yes, sometimes it gets a bit crazy with repeating over and over again. But its something you can live with :) Suggetions for a new model? -> have the inhale/exhale as a lighter tone. sometimes it gets too loud and annoying, just needs to be alittle softer. -> have a more variety of poses when you do 45-60 practices. Instead of just doing the same ones over and over fast, needs to be more relaxing and breathing. other than that, i am very pleased with my purchase. 4 stars ****!

Just alright

Not the best app in the world but it isnt terrible. Ive been doing yoga for four years and I think it could be slowed down just a little but everyones beathing schedule is different so thats hard to get right. The only really annoying part of this app is the voice. The way the voice says "exhale" or "inhale" makes me lose my focus. It sounds like a really annoying girl with a "valley girl" voice, only worse, and it drives me nuts.

One request

I would like the instructions and the background music to be on different tracks. That way I can mute the background music while still listening to the instructions, and play my own music.

Really well done

Ive been doing yoga for a few years now, and this is one of the best apps out there. The flow is great (this is vinyasa! It moves!) even if the "inhale" "exhale" get a little annoying. The background music is great, and even though the image doesnt show the transition between poses, the description is good enough to understand. Really well done, easy to use, lots of options!

what… did i just buy.

im an intermediate yogi, i really wanted a way to practice at home without having to worry about making it up, and i saw this had really positive reviews overall. first of all, the robotic voice is horrible. definitely not relaxing. and they use names of the poses that ive never heard of before - i.e. dog pose, cat pose instead of cat-cow. i had to turn it off. maybe therell be updates that make it more palateable? please, rainfrog? because this is app is silly. how are you 4 and 5 star users doing it?

I like it so far!

Im very interested in Yoga but not so much in a big steamy room with tons of people I dont know. This app is great because it allows me to do Yoga at home whenever I want (or not). I too experienced the sudden fast paced movements but I went at my own pace doing the movements that app says to do. I look forward to using Pocket Yoga on a regular basis. One question though: where is the library of poses with detailed descriptions?? I would really like to have that in the app itself instead of going online everytime I want to look up a pose. Thanks!

Its good, simple, and uses flowing poses.

Its a good simple app for yoga. It works well except for the fact that it uses static images. Becuase of this, people think they are to do one pose, then hold, the move to another pose and hold again. However, that is sometimes the case but at the end of the routines there is no holding of the poses. So, one us suppose to be moving from one pose to another to another. But, since they you static images one doesnt really pick up on that. So, when it seems like its going to fast, remember that youre just moving from one pose to another.

Very easy to understand & relaxing

I’ve used this app for 2 years & I love it! There have been some audio problems since I updated to Mavericks. The background music will still play, but the voice announcing the positions will drop, which is a little distracting. I do wish there was a way to track the history of what I have done.

Awesome!!

It is NOT at all too fast, fantastic price for a very effecive and varied yoga work out & stretch. Maybe count a little less… that part is kind of annoying just because of the computer-esk voice

Great app, Needs Better Position Directions

Completed a 30 min session that ended with laying flat, breathing, and listening to ambient music. The app never notified me when my session was over, fell asleep on the floor for 15 min. 10/10

Awesome!

The possibilities are endless! I mostly do the 30 minute sessions, but it’s so great to have longer options for those weekends when I have more time. And I love the Sun Salutations! If I only have 15 minutes (because I woke up late) then 10 sun salutations does the trick! The pose dictionary is nice and shows the poses coming in to and out of each. I could see an update in the future for customizable routines that would still flow. And the price is right, actually it’s so well done that it should cost more. Keep up the good work!

Boring at best

The classes lack creativity in poses and the narrator sounds very computerized. Not very many options for classes and unlike other yoga applications you cant build your own sequences. Bottom line? Wish I could get my $5 back.

Fantastic!

It’s like being in a yoga class. It takes you through the flows and is just the right speed. If you have never tried Yoga before, the beginning level at 30min will be a little challenging but hang in there. The voice does sound a little computerish but not in an annoying way and actually it is easier to hear the cues. This is a very well done app! I’d recommend it to everyone I know.

New version and more environments? Where?

I have used this app on my phone for a long, long time now and I really love it when I travel. Very basic, not very exciting, but it gets me stretching and calm. I just downloaded the current version onto my desktop, looking fwd to seeing the “9 new environments” mentioned in the new app description - but all I see when I run it are the 3 original settings + 2 salutation settings. What am I missing? 5th star when the new scenes show up...

Great App - Missing Speed Control

I practice at studio serveral times a week, and when I don’t make it to the studio I’m now using Pocket Yoga to supplement my classes. This way I get my practice in everyday. The app works perfectly and the Practices are great, but IT NEEDS SPEED CONTROL. I move slower with my breath than most, and the practices get too fast for me - there is no wayto control speed before or during practice and ideally control should always be available, but at least give me a speed option somewhere. That done, this is a 5 star app for me.

outstanding app, serene, powerful and potent

An amazing App. Pocket Yoga is guided by a serene beautiful voice, instilling peace and tranquility at the beginning of your practice . It has a lovely energy combined with great poses and vigoous routines, but flexibility within experience levels and duration. I love it and do it every day

Best Yoga App

I absolutely love using this App at every opportunity. It is fantastic! The routines are flowing smoothly and my body and mind get all the benefits expected from practicing yoga. It is so wonderful to use Pocket Yoga in the tranquility of my home office! Thanks to the developers of this awesone app.

Needs speed control!

I use this app a lot and admit that it is currently the only acceptable yoga app in the app store. It could be so much better, though. I use this mostly for the sun salutations, and I find that even on beginner level I struggle to keep up. It says it allows 4 seconds per breath, but that is not true! Often there is not enough time to get into the next posture and *fully* inhale/exhale. The actual yoga sequences are good, though sometimes I experience the same pacing problem as with the sun salutations. Not a bad app, but the timing is completely wrong. I should not be out of breath at the end of 10 sun salutations. Ideally there would be a setting where the user can control how many seconds each breath lasts.

Needs more variations

Why have such an extensive pose library and not include majority of them into the practices. I would like to see more practices for the more advanced poses. For $4.99 the practices are quite limited. I have another app that costs half the price and has so many more variations of the practices with more poses. I was hoping for more.
